Week Eleven: Day Six

Green-Eyed Monster
“You must not want to take your neighbour’s house… or anything that belongs to your neighbour.” - Exodus 20 v 17

This is the last one of God’s Big 10 Commandments, but we still need to pay full attention!

Have you ever looked at someone else’s stuff and wanted it for yourself? Clothes, trainers, jewellery, mobile phone…? Ever looked at someone famous and wished you were as rich, funny or good-looking as them? That’s jealousy and God’s not into it!

You might think it’s no big deal, but think about it! Burglary, affairs, mugging, wars (and loads of other messed-up stuff) all start with people wanting stuff that doesn’t belong to them! Jealousy is dangerous!

God wants to be the centre of your life, because if you’ve got Him – you’ve got everything you need! If you think you need anything that belongs to your neighbour to make you happy – you’re telling God that He’s not enough!

Ask God to help you keep your eyes on Him, and off other people’s stuff!
