Roots

In April 2005, a gang of teenage boys from a council estate in South Wales came back from a Christian camp - and they were different! They’d just met Jesus and let Him into their lives! The Church was left with the awesome job of trying to help them connect their new faith in Jesus with life back on the streets! There wasn’t a whole load of stuff in the Christian bookshops that explained the Bible on their level, so Standard Issue was born!

A local youth worker* started writing a booklet explaining different verses in the Bible, and dished them out every week to whoever wanted them. They became really popular with the youth, and even their parents were soon asking for them!

While the format of Standard Issue has changed a bit since those early days, the vision’s exactly the same – helping young people on the streets get stuck into the life-changing truth of the Bible!
